Medialne obrazy współczesnych relacji miłosnych - na podstawie reality show Love Island

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of reality shows as a media format that significantly influences the perception of romantic relationships in contemporary culture. The subject of the study is the Polish edition of the ninth season of Love Island. Love Island is an example of a media narrative that creates patterns of love, intimacy, and gender roles. The analysis concerns the way in which types of relationships, emotional dynamics, physicality, and the drama of the program are presented, as well as the role that narrative structure and audiovisual aesthetics play in constructing the image of relationships. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on media, sociological, and cultural concepts, covering issues related to the influence of mass media on audiences, the specificity of the reality show genre, celebrity culture, and the culture of exposure. Of particular importance here are Eva Illouz's reflections on the transformation of intimacy and Brian McNair's reflections on the mediatization of desire. The aim of the thesis is to show how reality dating shows not only reflect but also co-create social ideas about love, relationships, and gender identity.
