Skóra, ciało, emocje - doświadczenie własnej skóry a obraz ciała oraz regulacja emocji
| dc.abstract.en | This thesis concerns the relationships between the experience of one's own skin, body image, and emotion regulation strategies. The theoretical framework was based on the theories of multidimensional body image (Cash, 1990, 2002, 2011), the process model of emotion regulation (Gross, 1998, 2001), as well as the concepts of body schema and body image (Bielefeld, 1991), and body image and the bodily self (Meissner, 1997). The study aimed to determine whether individuals with skin lesions differ from individuals without skin diseases with respect to emotion regulation strategies, skin satisfaction, and selected aspects of body image. The study involved adults aged 18 to 53 years (N=198), including 99 individuals with skin diseases and 99 individuals without skin diseases. The study was conducted online. Skin satisfaction and awareness of the functions of the skin were measured using the My Skin Questionnaire (MSQ) (Kossakowska, 2011). The habitual use of emotion regulation strategies, cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, was measured using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) (Gross & John, 2003). Selected dimensions of body satisfaction, such as appearance evaluation, negative affect toward the body, investment in appearance ideals, and the dependence of body image on others' opinions, were measured using the short form of the Body Self-Image Questionnaire (BSIQ-SF) (Rowe, 2005). The results of the study showed that individuals experiencing skin diseases used cognitive reappraisal less frequently and had lower skin satisfaction, evaluating their appearance more negatively. Experiencing a skin disease was associated with higher negative affect toward one's body. The results highlight the multidimensional nature of the experience of one's own skin and the role of emotion regulation in adaptation to skin diseases. |
| dc.abstract.pl | Niniejsza praca dotyczy związków pomiędzy doświadczaniem własnej skóry, obrazem ciała oraz strategiami regulacji emocji. Ramę teoretyczną stanowiły teorie wielowymiarowego obrazu ciała (Cash, 1990, 2002, 2011), procesualnego modelu regulacji emocji (Gross, 1998, 2001), oraz koncepcje schematu i obrazu ciała (Bielefeld, 1991), obrazu ciała i Ja cielesnego (Meissner, 1997). |
