L’analyse des Mémoires de Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord en termes de compatibilité avec le pacte autobiographique

dc.abstract.enTalleyrand, being one of the greatest politicians in history, continues to spark controversy to this day. Some call him a politician with six faces, a traitor who never hesitated to seize any opportunity to advance his own interests, while others regard him as a great patriot and a courageous statesman. This thesis analyzes his biography and his Memoirs, which, despite avoiding the subject of his private life, can be considered an autobiography, revealing how this man thought and what truly guided his political decisions. The aim of this work is to show how Talleyrand distorted the course of certain events in order to repair his reputation in the eyes of future generations, thereby breaking the autobiographical pact defined by Philippe Lejeune.

dc.abstract.otherTalleyrand, en tant que l’un des plus grands hommes politiques de l’histoire, suscite encore aujourd’hui de nombreuses controverses. Certains le qualifient d’homme politique aux six visages, de traître n’ayant reculé devant rien pour servir ses propres intérêts, tandis que d’autres le considèrent comme un grand patriote, un homme d’État courageux. Ce travail analyse sa biographie ainsi que ses Mémoires qui, bien qu’ils évitent le sujet de sa vie privée, peuvent être considérés comme son autobiographie, révélant sa façon de penser et les véritables motivations qui ont guidé ses décisions politiques. L’objectif de cette these est de montrer comment Talleyrand a déformé le cours de certains événements afin d’améliorer son image aux yeux des générations futures, rompant ainsi le pacte autobiographique défini par Philippe Lejeune.

Nazywany jest przez niektórych politykiem o sześciu twarzach, zdrajcą, który nie zawahał się wykorzystać żadnej okazji do realizacji swoich interesów, a przez innych wielkim patriotą, walecznym mężem stanu. Praca analizuje jego biografię oraz „Pamiętniki”, które mimo unikania tematu życia prywatnego Talleyranda mogą być uznane za jego autobiografię i pokazać, w jaki sposób ów człowiek myślał i czym tak naprawdę się kierował, podejmując swoje kolejne decyzje polityczne. Praca ma na celu pokazanie, w jaki sposób Talleyrand zakłamywał bieg pewnych wydarzeń w celu naprawienia swojej opinii w oczach przyszłych pokoleń, łamiąc w ten sposób pakt autobiograficzny Philipa Lejeune’a.
