Navigating the Fog of Information Warfare: Analyzing Narrative Dynamics in the Russian-Ukrainian war 2022

dc.abstract.en	The realities of the 21st century, as well as the great leap in the development of new technologies, the globalization of the world, and the simplification of many communication processes, affect the perception of war and its course. Nowadays, a military operation without an information campaign is simply unthinkable. On 24th February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale military invasion against Ukraine by land, air, and sea, after Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced the approval of a “special military operation”. Soon after, news resources and social networks were filled with news reports and information about events taking place in Ukraine. Considering modern realities and the extent to which this conflict is covered in the media, Russian-Ukrainian confrontation has become one of the most striking examples of how the information arena has become one of the battlefields. In this war, the strategic deployment of the narratives became one of the key means of asserting dominance, justifying actions, and strengthening national identity. This thesis will delve into complex information dynamics in the Russian-Ukrainian war 2022, exploring how strategic narratives serve as key tools in framing public perception, influencing international affairs and shaping the information ecosystem.
