dc.abstract.en	In this work, I undertake an analysis of the process of social and psychological reintegration of adult former prisoners of war and interned civilians in the context of contemporary armed conflicts. I argue that the return from captivity does not end the suffering, but rather initiates its next, often equally difficult stage, and that reintegration is not a return to normality, but rather an arduous reconstruction of identity, sense of security, and bonds with other people. In the first chapter, I present the legal and theoretical framework. I discuss the definitions of a prisoner of war and an interned civilian in light of the Geneva Conventions, the role of the ICRC, and the powerlessness of humanitarian law against parties that are not subject to real accountability, using concrete real-world examples. In the second chapter, I shift the analysis to clinical ground. I make Judith Herman's complex post-traumatic stress disorder the central category, qualitatively distinct from the trauma of ordinary PTSD. I analyze the mechanisms of enslavement (the progressive loss of control, double consciousness, and neurobiological changes) as well as Herman's three-phase model of recovery: establishing safety, remembrance and mourning, and reconnection. In the third chapter, I address the social consequences of captivity. I show the social production of the category of former prisoner and the internalization of surveillance. I distinguish three forms of stigmatization: presumed betrayal, contamination by experience, and disgrace. I analyze the difficulties of reintegration within the family, the workplace, the neighborhood, and the public sphere, as well as the tension between bearing witness and the right to remain silent. The key conclusion of my work is the concept of the civilian's triple exclusion: legal, institutional, and social. I demonstrate that, paradoxically, the person most clinically vulnerable to complex PTSD turns out to be the one least protected. I consider social exclusion — diffused throughout everyday gestures and silences — to be the most difficult to overcome, and I link full reintegration to the community's creation of a language and a place in public memory for these experiences.

Stawiam tezę, że powrót z niewoli nie kończy cierpienia, lecz rozpoczyna jego kolejny, często równie trudny etap, a reintegracja nie jest powrotem do normalności, lecz mozolną odbudową tożsamości, poczucia bezpieczeństwa i więzi z innymi ludźmi. W rozdziale pierwszym przedstawiam ramy prawne i teoretyczne. Omawiam definicje jeńca i internowanego cywila w świetle Konwencji Genewskich, rolę MKCK oraz bezsilność prawa humanitarnego wobec stron niepodlegających realnej odpowiedzialności, posługując się realnymi przykładami. W rozdziale drugim przesuwam analizę na grunt kliniczny. Centralną kategorią czynię złożony zespół stresu pourazowego Judith Herman, jakościowo odmienny od traumy zwykłego PTSD. Analizuję mechanizmy zniewolenia (progresywną utratę kontroli, podwójną świadomość, zmiany neurobiologiczne) oraz trójfazowy model zdrowienia Herman, ustanowienie bezpieczeństwa, przypominanie i opłakiwanie, odtwarzanie więzi. W rozdziale trzecim zajmuję się społecznymi skutkami uwięzienia. Pokazuję społeczne wytwarzanie kategorii byłego jeńca i internalizację nadzoru. Wyróżniam trzy formy stygmatyzacji: domniemanej zdrady, „skażenia doświadczeniem oraz hańby. Analizuję trudności reintegracji w rodzinie, pracy, sąsiedztwie i sferze publicznej oraz napięcie między świadectwem a prawem do milczenia. Kluczowym wnioskiem mojej pracy jest koncepcja potrójnego wykluczenia cywila: prawnego, instytucjonalnego i społecznego. Dowodzę, że paradoksalnie najbardziej narażony klinicznie na złożony PTSD, okazuje się ten najsłabiej chroniony. Wykluczenie społeczne — rozproszone w codziennych gestach i milczeniach, uznaję za najtrudniejsze do przezwyciężenia, a pełną reintegrację wiążę z wytworzeniem przez wspólnotę języka i miejsca w pamięci publicznej dla tych doświadczeń.
