The subject of this master thesis is the personal brand (personal PR), of a celebrity from the LGBTQ+ community, which is promoted mainly through a mass communication channel, namely the reality show “RuPaul's Drag Race.” The first chapter explains the meaning of communication, mass communication and personal brand (personal PR). It also presented the functions of mass communication - particularly entertainment and opinion forming, which relates to TV shows like reality show and celebrities, who often come from such entertainment programs. The second chapter characterizes the LGBTQ+ community and drag queen art, and presents the situation of LGBTQ+ people in Poland and trends in the communications industry about this community. The last chapter takes a closer look at the history of “RuPaul's Drag Race” and the achievements of the celebrity who is the originator of the show about drag queen art. The third chapter was supplemented with the results from the analysis of RuPaul's Instagram account and the conclusions of an empirical study conducted with the polish fan community of the reality show. This thesis proves that reality TV shows and celebrities do not have to be just entertainment for viewers, but can influence their opinion on social issues, such as promoting tolerance and openness for the LGBTQ+ community.
