Das sprachliche Bild des Eigenen und des Fremden in der Darstellung von Masuren in den Reportagen von Melchior Wańkowicz und Ralph Giordano.

dc.abstract.en	This master's thesis is concerned with the attempt to examine the linguistic representation of the categories of familiarity and strangeness in the picture of Masuria, as constructed in the reportages of Melchior Wańkowicz and Ralph Giordano. The analysed texts offer a multi-layered insight into the mechanisms of linguistic construction of familiarity and strangeness in Polish and German ethnocentric discourse on Masuria. The analysis of selected linguistic elements – such as nomination strategies, predication strategies, key words and symbolic words, toponyms associated with the Masurian Lake District, descriptions of nature, as well as the manner of narration and the selection of topics and argumentation strategies revealed the presence of Polish ethnocentrism in Wańkowicz’s description of this region and the multiculturalism and multi-ethnicity of Giordano's image. Both texts present an image of Masuria which is shaped by the perspective of the cultural community represented by their authors. Wańkowicz's text is dominated by the search for Polishness and a nostalgic tone, whereas Ralph Giordano's text, which represents a multicultural and nostalgic perspective, simultaneously warns against the instrumental use of ethnocentrism for propaganda and political purposes and the dangers associated with it.

dc.abstract.other	Die vorliegende Magisterarbeit ist ein Versuch, die sprachliche Darstellung der Kategorien des Eigenen und des Fremden im Bild der Masuren zu untersuchen, wie es in den Reportagen von Melchior Wańkowicz und Ralph Giordano konstruiert wird. Die analysierten Texte bieten einen vielschichtigen Einblick in die Mechanismen der sprachlichen Konstruktion von Eigenem und Fremdem im polnischen und im deutschen ethnozentrischen Diskurs über die Masuren. Die Analyse ausgewählter sprachlicher Mittel wie Nominationsstrategien, Prädikationsstrategien, Schlüsselwörter und Symbolwörter, mit den Masuren verbundene Toponyme, Naturbeschreibungen sowie die Art und Weise der Erzählung und die Auswahl der Themen und Argumentationsstrategien zeigte die Präsenz des polnischen Ethnozentrismus in Wańkowicz‘ Beschreibung der Masuren und die Multikulturalität und Multiethnizität des Bildes bei Giordano. Beide Texte zeigen ein Bild der Masuren, das von der Perspektive der kulturellen Gemeinschaft geprägt ist, die ihre Autoren repräsentieren. Bei Wańkowicz dominieren die Suche nach dem Polentum und ein nostalgischer Ton. Der Text von Ralph Giordano, der eine multikulturelle und nostalgische Perspektive präsentiert, warnt gleichzeitig vor der instrumentellen Nutzung des Ethnozentrismus für propagandistische und politische Zwecke und den damit verbundenen Gefahren.
dc.abstract.pl	Niniejsza praca magisterska stanowi próbę zbadania językowej reprezentacji kategorii swojskości i obcości w obrazie Mazur konstruowanym w reportażach Melchiora Wańkowicza i Ralpha Giordano. Analizowane teksty oferują wielowymiarowy wgląd w mechanizmy językowej konstrukcji tego, co swojskie i obce, w polskim i niemieckim dyskursie etnocentrycznym dotyczącym Mazur. Analiza wybranych środków językowych takich jak strategie nominacji, wyrażenia wartościujące, słowa klucze i symbole, toponimy związane z Mazurami, opisy krajobrazu, a także sposób prowadzenia narracji oraz dobór tematyki i strategii argumentacyjnych wykazała obecność polskiego etnocentryzmu w opisie Mazur u Wańkowicza oraz wielokulturowość i wieloetniczność obrazu u Giordano. Oba teksty ukazują obraz Mazur nacechowany perspektywą właściwą dla wspólnoty kulturowej, którą reprezentują ich autorzy. U Wańkowicza dominuje poszukiwanie polskości i ton nostalgiczny. Tekst Ralpha Giordano, prezentujący perspektywę wielokulturową i nostalgiczną, przestrzega jednocześnie przed instrumentalnym wykorzystaniem etnocentryzmu w celach propagandowych i politycznych oraz związanymi z tym zagrożeniami.
