Moralne zagrożenia związane z posiadaniem zwierząt domowych

dc.abstract.en	Keeping pets involves the owner’s responsibility to ensure that they have a good life. This can be achieved only by rejecting speciesism and by implementing appropriate moral principles. This thesis proposes a method for simulating animals’ feelings, grounded in preference utilitarianism and drawing on the theoretical resources of theory of mind and simulation theory. The proposed method enables pet owners to consistently avoid causing suffering to their animals and to improve their relationship with them by taking animal interests into account. In situations that fall outside the scope of the simulation method, the thesis emphasizes the use of current scientific knowledge concerning animal welfare. The thesis concludes with an imperative that every moral—prospective and current—pet owner sign a Preadoption Declaration (Appendix 2).
dc.abstract.pl	Posiadanie zwierząt domowych wiąże się z odpowiedzialnością właściciela za zapewnienie im dobrego życia. Można to osiągnąć wyłącznie poprzez odrzucenie szowinizmu gatunkowego oraz implementację odpowiednich zasad moralnych. Niniejsza praca proponuje metodę symulacji uczuć zwierząt opartą na zasadach utylitaryzmu preferencji oraz czerpiącą z dorobku teorii umysłu i teorii symulacji. Umożliwia ona właścicielowi konsekwentne unikanie wyrządzania cierpienia swojemu zwierzęciu oraz usprawnianie relacji z nim poprzez uwzględnienie w niej zwierzęcego interesu. W każdej sytuacji wykraczającej poza ramy metody symulacji niniejsza praca kładzie nacisk na wykorzystanie aktualnej wiedzy naukowej dotyczącej dobrostanu zwierząt. Zakończenie pracy stanowi imperatyw podpisania Deklaracji Preadopcyjnej (Załącznik nr 2) przez każdego moralnego – przyszłego i obecnego – właściciela zwierzęcia domowego.
