Feminine forms in the Polish translation of Roxane Gay’s ‘Bad Feminist’ by Anna Dzierzgowska

dc.abstract.en	This thesis is dedicated to the presence of feminatives in the translation of Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay. The use of feminatives is evident in the strategies of specification and splitting employed by the translator, which are the focus of the analysis. The first chapter of the theoretical part introduces the profiles of the author and the translator along with their previous work. The following chapter is devoted to inclusive language and the strategies related to it. The third chapter discusses the differences between the grammatical systems of English and Polish, while the fourth explains why the topic of feminatives is controversial in Poland. The analytical part focuses on a descriptive analysis of the strategies used, along with a detailed discussion of their functions in the text and the impact they have on the translation. The conclusion presents the key findings resulting from the analysis of the strategies and the translation.
dc.abstract.pl	Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest obecności feminatywów w tłumaczeniu książki Bad Feminist autorstwa Roxane Gay. Użycie feminatywów widoczne jest w zastosowanych przez tłumaczkę strategiach specyfikacji i splittingu, które stanowią przedmiot analizy. Pierwszy rozdział części teoretycznej przybliża sylwetki autorki i tłumaczki wraz z ich dotychczasowym dorobkiem. Kolejny rozdział poświęcony jest językowi inkluzywnemu oraz związanym z nim strategiom. Rozdział trzeci omawia różnice w systemach gramatycznych języka angielskiego i polskiego, natomiast rozdział czwarty wyjaśnia, dlaczego temat feminatywów budzi kontrowersje w Polsce. Część analityczna skupia się na deskryptywnej analizie zastosowanych strategii oraz szczegółowym omówieniu ich funkcji w tekście i wpływu, jaki wywierają na przekład. W zakończeniu przedstawiono najważniejsze wnioski wynikające z analizy strategii i tłumaczenia.
