Lęk przed deklasacją. Znaczenie własności nieruchomości w umacnianiu pozycji klasy średniej

dc.abstract.en	The thesis analyzes the importance of owning a property in the context of the middle class habitus, indicating that housing ownership is seen as a key element confirming membership in this social group and as a safeguard against the risk of declassification. In the neoliberal discourse, owning property is considered a measure of personal success, which influences the aspirations of individuals. When these aspirations clash with limited economic opportunities, the respondents activate social capital to fulfil their housing aspirations. The thesis also shows how individuals construct narratives that allow them to cope with the discrepancies between aspirations and reality, which often leads to the adoption of specific strategies, such as distancing themselves from the need to own property in favour of accepting renting. The analysis shows that owning a property is not only a material security, but also a tool for manifesting and strengthening social position.
dc.abstract.pl	Praca analizuje znaczenie posiadania nieruchomości w kontekście habitusu klasy średniej, wskazując, że własność mieszkaniowa jest postrzegana jako kluczowy element potwierdzający przynależność do tej grupy społecznej oraz jako zabezpieczenie przed ryzykiem deklasacji. W neoliberalnym dyskursie posiadanie własności jest uznawane za miarę osobistego sukcesu, co wpływa na aspiracje jednostek. W sytuacji, gdy aspiracje te zderzają się z ograniczonymi możliwościami ekonomicznymi, badani aktywują kapitał społeczny, aby zrealizować swoje aspiracje mieszkaniowe. Praca pokazuje również, w jaki sposób jednostki konstruują narracje, które pozwalają im radzić sobie z rozbieżnościami między aspiracjami a rzeczywistością, co często prowadzi do przyjęcia określonych strategii, takich jak dystansowanie się od potrzeby posiadania własności na rzecz akceptacji wynajmu. Analiza ukazuje, że posiadanie nieruchomości jest nie tylko materialnym zabezpieczeniem, ale także narzędziem manifestacji i umacniania pozycji społecznej.
