Disco polo w kulturze festynu

dc.abstract.en	This paper addresses disco polo as a cultural phenomenon functioning on the borderline between entertainment and social identity. Despite many years of marginalization, this genre has gained a permanent position in Polish popular culture. The aim of the study is to present disco polo not only as entertainment music, but also as a social phenomenon that plays an important integrative role, especially in the context of local events such as festivals. The analysis covers the origins of the genre, its development in the 1990s, its social functions, and its influence on musical tastes. The study emphasizes the importance of festivals as a communal space in which disco polo serves as a tool for building bonds and affirming everyday life. Festivals become a place for “ordinary people to celebrate,” and disco polo is the musical form of this celebration. The work is based on an analysis of the literature on the subject and source materials available in the form of magazines or online articles, pointing to the links between disco polo and folk songs and the presence of this genre in politics and the media. The conclusions of the work confirm that disco polo is a complex phenomenon deserving of further research, including empirical research focused on the social reception of this music.
dc.abstract.pl	Praca podejmuje temat disco polo jako zjawiska kulturowego funkcjonującego na pograniczu rozrywki i tożsamości społecznej. Mimo wieloletniej marginalizacji, gatunek ten zdobył trwałą pozycję w polskiej kulturze popularnej. Celem opracowania jest ukazanie disco polo nie tylko jako muzyki rozrywkowej, ale jako fenomenu społecznego, który odgrywa istotną rolę integracyjną – szczególnie w kontekście lokalnych wydarzeń, takich jak festyny. Analiza obejmuje genezę gatunku, jego rozwój w latach 90. XX wieku, funkcje społeczne oraz wpływ na gusta muzyczne. W pracy podkreślono znaczenie festynu jako przestrzeni wspólnotowej, w której disco polo pełni rolę narzędzia budowania więzi i afirmacji codzienności. Festyn staje się miejscem „święta zwykłego człowieka”, a disco polo – dźwiękową formą tej celebracji. Praca opiera się na analizie literatury przedmiotu i materiałów źródłowych, dostępnych w formie czasopism lub artykułów on-line wskazując na powiązania disco polo z pieśnią ludową oraz obecność tego gatunku w polityce i mediach. Wnioski pracy potwierdzają, że disco polo to zjawisko złożone, zasługujące na dalsze badania, w tym empiryczne, ukierunkowane na społeczną recepcję tej muzyki.
