Dzieło sztuki czy nauki? Funkcje i recepcja serii Muszle Wenceslausa Hollara

dc.abstract.en	This paper collects and organizes existing findings about the etching series known as Shells by Wenceslaus Hollar (1607–1677), created between 1646 and 1652, which has yet to receive a monographic study. The circumstances surrounding the creation of the series, its functions, and its reception in the fields of science and art in the 17th and 18th centuries are analyzed. The series is presented in the broader context of the artist's work, shell collecting, with particular attention to the relationship between naturalia and artificialia, as well as the phenomenon of cataloging collections and publishing illustrated catalogs of them. The analysis of the cycle's place in scientific discourse highlights the intersection of art and science. It is demonstrated that the Shells series is not only an important work of art, highly valued by early modern collectors, but also a significant contribution to the development of conchology as a scientific field.
dc.abstract.pl	Niniejsza praca zbiera i porządkuje dotychczasowe ustalenia na temat cyklu akwafort znanego pod tytułem Muszle Wenceslausa Hollara (1607–1677), wykonanego w latach 1646–1652, który nie doczekał się jeszcze monograficznego opracowania. Omówiono okoliczności powstania serii, jej funkcje oraz zasięg recepcji w obszarze nauki i sztuki w XVII-XVIII wieku. Serię przedstawiono w szerszym kontekście twórczości artysty, zbieractwa muszli, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem relacji naturaliów i artificialiów, i fenomenu inwentaryzowania kolekcji oraz wydawania ich ilustrowanych katalogów. Analiza miejsca cyklu w dyskursie naukowym pozwoliła wskazać miejsca przenikania się sztuki i nauki. Dowiedziono, że seria Muszle jest nie tylko istotnym dziełem sztuki, cenionym przez nowożytnych kolekcjonerów, ale też pracą ważną dla rozwoju konchiologii jako dziedziny nauki.
