Rynek wydawniczy muzyki death metalowej w latach 1983 - 2021. Analiza danych z bazy Discogs.com

dc.abstract.en	The subject of this study was to analyse the death metal music publishing market from its inception to the present. First, using the literature on the subject and online discography databases such as AllMusic.com and RateYourMusic.com, the definition of this subgenre of heavy metal music and the genesis of its emergence was determined, focusing on the American and European scenes. Also presented were the key bands and most notable albums according to users of the aforementioned sites and also authors such as Albert Mudrian and Daniel Ekeroth. The second chapter focused on the three media on which the music is still being released. Compact discs, vinyl records and cassette tapes were described, taking into account their history and the features affecting their popularity over the years. Also presented was the Discogs.com database, thanks to which information was obtained on the number of death metal releases by country, format and release date. Using this information, the third chapter the worldwide death metal music publishing market from 1983 to 2021 was analysed, presenting the most important publishers, the most frequently released bands and albums and the countries with the largest supply of releases. The study showed that despite a significant decline in the popularity of this type of music in the early 2000s, more music is now being released on the worldwide market than during the heyday of death metal popularity in the first half of the 1990s. At the same time, it was noted that despite the popularity of streaming services and widespread access to music thanks to the Internet, media such as vinyl records, CDs and even audio cassettes are still popular among publishers and consumers of death metal music.
dc.abstract.pl	Przedmiotem pracy była analiza rynku wydawniczego muzyki death metalowej od początków jej istnienia po czasy obecne. W pierwszej kolejności, korzystając z literatury przedmiotu oraz internetowych baz dyskografii takich jak AllMusic.com, czy RateYourMusic.com, określono definicję tego podgatunku muzyki heavy metalowej oraz genezę jego powstania skupiając się na scenie amerykańskiej i europejskiej. Przedstawiono także kluczowe zespoły i najbardziej znaczące albumy według użytkowników wspomnianych serwisów a także autorów takich jak Albert Mudrian i Daniel Ekeroth. W drugim rozdziale skupiono się na trzech nośnikach na jakich wciąż wydawana jest ta muzyka. Opisano płyty kompaktowe, płyty winylowe oraz kasety magnetofonowe uwzględniając ich historię oraz cechy wpływające na ich popularność na przestrzeni lat. Przedstawiono także bazę danych serwisu Discogs.com, dzięki której pozyskano informacje na temat liczby wydawnictw z muzyką death metalową w zależności od kraju, formatu i daty wydania. Na podstawie tych informacji w rozdziale trzecim dokonano analizy ogólnoświatowego rynku wydawniczego muzyki death metalowej w latach 1983-2021. Przedstawiono najważniejszych wydawców, najczęściej wydawane zespoły i albumy a także kraje, w których podaż wydawnictw jest największa. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że mimo znacznego spadku w popularności tego rodzaju muzyki na początku XXI wieku, obecnie na ogólnoświatowym rynku ukazuje się jej więcej niż w czasie rozkwitu jej popularności przypadającego na pierwszą połowę lat 90. Jednocześnie zauważono, że mimo popularności serwisów streamingowych i powszechnym dostępie do muzyki dzięki Internetowi, nośniki takie jak płyty winylowe, płyty CD a nawet kasety audio, wciąż cieszą się popularnością wśród wydawców i odbiorców muzyki death metalowej.
