Ewolucja stosunków Singapuru z Chinami i USA w latach 1990-2023

dc.abstract.enThe master's thesis, titled “The Evolution of Singapore's Relations with China and the US from 1990 to 2023,” examines the changes in relations between Singapore and two world powers - the United States and China - and compares their foreign policies. The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of U.S. and Chinese policies on Singapore's relations and to understand the role that hedging policies play in shaping these relations. The results of the study show that Singapore's relations with the US and China have evolved since 1990, and that hedging policies allow Singapore to maintain close relations with the US, especially in the military field. Although economic relations with China are more developed, the U.S. military presence in the region is crucial to Singapore's security. Ethnic influence and cultural cooperation also play an important role in relations with China. The paper concludes that Singapore, situated between the Western and Eastern worlds, is taking advantage of its strategic location to balance relations with the US and China. Despite periodic tensions and difficulties, the relationship continues to grow, as evidenced by new agreements and understandings.
dc.abstract.plPraca magisterska pod tytułem „Ewolucja stosunków Singapuru z Chinami i USA w latach 1990-2023” bada zmiany w relacjach między Singapurem a dwoma potęgami światowymi – Stanami Zjednoczonymi i Chinami – oraz porównuje ich polityki zagraniczne. Celem pracy jest analiza wpływu polityki USA i Chin na stosunki Singapuru oraz zrozumienie roli, jaką polityka hedgingu odgrywa w kształtowaniu tych relacji. Wyniki badania pokazują, że stosunki Singapuru z USA i Chinami ewoluowały od 1990 roku, a polityka hedgingu pozwala Singapurowi na utrzymanie bliskich relacji z USA, szczególnie w zakresie wojskowym. Mimo że relacje gospodarcze z Chinami są bardziej rozwinięte, obecność wojskowa USA w regionie ma kluczowe znaczenie dla bezpieczeństwa Singapuru. Wpływ etniczny oraz współpraca kulturowa również odgrywają istotną rolę w relacjach z Chinami. Praca konkluduje, że Singapur, znajdujący się między światem Zachodnim a Wschodnim, wykorzystuje swoje strategiczne położenie, aby zbalansować relacje z USA i Chinami. Pomimo okresowych napięć i trudności, stosunki te nieustannie się rozwijają, co potwierdzają nowe umowy i porozumienia.
