Wolność i zło - czy Schellinga metafizyczna koncepcja wolności przezwycięża Kantowski problem zła?

This thesis addresses the problem of the genesis of evil and asks whether Schelling’s ontologization of freedom resolves the Kantian problem of the origins of evil, which stems from the theory of radical evil and the postulate of an atemporal intelligible act. To this end, it reconstructs the historically significant notion of evil as privation (Plato, Plotinus, Augustine), analyzes Kant’s model of the will, and interprets Schelling’s conception of freedom. Schelling’s proposal is evaluated against four criteria developed alongside the argument of the thesis: (K1) the provision of a mechanism explaining the emergence of an evil orientation of the will—both in the sense of how evil comes about and why it comes about; (K2) the preservation of responsibility within the limits of the respective system; (K3) an answer given within a methodologically coherent framework (critical method/speculation); (K4) an explanation of the “force” and “temptation” of evil, that is, an account, within the given theory, of the affective dimension that plays an important role in the experience of what is evil.
