Procesy w Salem - Czarownice, purytanie i sądy

dc.abstract.en	In this master’s thesis, I focus on the most famous witch trials in the Word- the Salem witch hunts. The first part of the thesis presents the historical background and context in which the instigators of the entire affair- the Puritans- lived and what values they adhered to. It also explains terms commonly associated with this story, such as Witch Hunters or the Malleus Maleficarum (The Hammer of Witches). Next, medical theories are presented that may explain the strange illness that afflicted several girls in Salem, which triggered the chain of events ultimately leading to the deaths of 20 people. The second part of the thesis includes translations of selected documents and their transcripts, originally written only in 17th-century English, containing records of the interrogations of the accused.
dc.abstract.pl	W niniejszej pracy magisterskiej zajmuję się najgłośniejszymi procesami czarownic na świecie- polowaniami na wiedźmy w Salem. W pierwszej części pracy przybliżony zostaje rys historyczny oraz kontekst, w jakich warunkach żyli i jakimi wartościami kierowali się prowodyrzy całej sprawy- purytanie. Wyjaśnione zostają także pojęcia, które mogą od razu się kojarzyć z tą historią takie jak Łowcy Czarownic, czy Młot na Czarownice. Następnie podane zostają teorie medyczne, które mogą tłumaczyć dziwną chorobę, na jaką zapadło kilka dziewcząt w Salem, co rozpoczęło lawinę, która zakończyła się na śmierci 20 osób. Druga część pracy, zawiera tłumaczenia wybranych dokumentów i ich transkryptów zapisanych jedynie w XVII wiecznej angielszczyźnie, zawierających protokoły z przesłuchań oskarżonych.
