„Krew z mojej krwi”. Serial Gra o tron jako telewizyjny obraz świata fantasy

dc.abstract.en	This thesis focuses on the analysis of the television series Game of Thrones in terms of adaptive strategies in its production, aimed at transforming a fantasy novel into a format suitable for television. By examining the alterations made in relation to the source material, the study presents the methods of narration and world-building used in the first season of the series. The work is divided into three parts, consisting of two theoretical chapters and one analytical. The first chapter outlines the history of fantasy literature and its evolution over the years. Particular attention is devoted to the pivotal role of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works in popularising the genre, which contributed to the emergence of numerous other iconic novels classified as epic fantasy, including George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. The chapter concludes with a presentation of the world created by Martin and the distinctive features of his novels in comparison with other fantasy works. The second part of the thesis provides a summary of the events of the first volume of the saga, entitled A Game of Thrones, preceded by a brief factual description of the series itself. The analysis is based on a comparison of the content and modifications present in the first and final episodes of the television adaptation in relation to the novel, while also highlighting the key motifs and narrative threads employed to construct a compelling vision of adaptation. Furthermore, the study examines elements of the television production, including its portrayal of characters, the role of music, cinematography and the fictional languages created specifically for the series.
dc.abstract.pl	Niniejsza praca koncentruje się na analizie serialu Gra o tron pod względem zabiegów adaptacyjnych wykorzystanych w produkcji, w celu przekształcenia powieści z gatunku fantasy do formatu odpowiadającego medium telewizyjnemu. Poprzez zbadanie zmian względem materiału źródłowego, zaprezentowano sposób prowadzenia narracji oraz kreowania świata przedstawionego w pierwszym sezonie produkcji. Praca podzielona została na trzy części, na które składają się dwa rozdziały teoretyczne oraz jeden analityczny. Pierwszy przedstawia historię literatury fantasy oraz jej ewolucji na przestrzeni lat. Opisana została kluczowa rola twórczości J.R.R. Tolkiena dla spopularyzowania gatunku, która doprowadziła do powstania szeregu innych, kultowych powieści zaliczanych do fantasy epickiej, w tym sagi Pieśni lodu i ognia. Rozdział zakończony jest przedstawieniem świata wykreowanego przez George’a R.R. Martina i elementów wyróżniających jego powieści w porównaniu z inną literaturą fantasy. Drugą część pracy stanowi streszczenie wydarzeń z pierwszego tomu sagi, zatytułowanego Gra o tron, poprzedzone krótkim opisem faktograficznym dotyczącym samej serii. Analiza przeprowadzona została na podstawie porównania treści i zmian zawartych w pierwszym oraz finałowym odcinku serialu względem powieści, wskazując dodatkowo na kluczowe motywy i wątki, wykorzystane do zbudowania angażującego obrazu adaptacji. Ponadto przeanalizowane zostały aspekty stanowiące całokształt produkcji telewizyjnej – postaci, muzyka, praca kamerowa oraz stworzone na potrzeby serialu fikcyjne języki.
