dc.abstract.en	The Documentary Photographic Portrait: Representation or Interpretation of the Human Subject? Practical Diploma Project is a thesis that aims to address the subject of documentary photography as a medium for recreating reality and focuses on the documentary aspect of portrait photography. It poses the question of to what extent a photographic portrait is an objective representation of the person portrayed, and to what extent it is a subjective interpretation of the character by the photographer. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical considerations show the tension between documentary fidelity and creative transformation, emphasising that the photographer, while striving for honesty and truthfulness of the image, is never a fully neutral observer. The practical part is a series of close analogue portraits of people I have encountered. The photographs show the relationship between the photographer and the photographed protagonist; the close frames allow the viewer to delve into this contact individually and are intended to prompt conscious reflection on how we perceive the subjectively seen world and the people around us. The paper examines key theoretical and aesthetic issues related to documentary portraiture, analysing how the photographer's aesthetic sensibility, social context, or choice of means of expression influence the final image. The project examines the relationship between truth and the creation of reality in photography, aiming to highlight the fundamental moral and philosophical dilemmas inherent in documentary photography.

Dyplom praktyczny” to praca, której celem było podjęcie tematu fotografii dokumentalnej jako medium odtwórczego rzeczywistości i skupienie się na aspekcie dokumentalnej fotografii portretowej. Stawia pytanie o to, w jakim stopniu fotograficzny portret stanowi obiektywną reprezentację portretowanej osoby, a w jakim jest subiektywną interpretacją bohatera przez twórcę zdjęć. Praca składa się z części teoretycznej i praktycznej. Teoretyczne rozważania ukazują napięcie między dokumentalną wiernością a kreacyjnym przetworzeniem – podkreślając, że fotografujący, choć dąży do szczerości i prawdziwości wizerunku, nigdy nie jest w pełni neutralnym obserwatorem. Część praktyczna to cykl bliskich portretów analogowych napotkanych przeze mnie osób. Na zdjęciach widać relację pomiędzy fotografem a fotografowanym bohaterem, bliskie kadry pozwalają odbiorcy zagłębić się w ten kontakt indywidualnie oraz mają skłonić do świadomej refleksji nad tym jak odbieramy widziany subiektywnie świat i otaczających nas ludzi. Praca analizuje kluczowe zagadnienia teoretyczne i estetyczne związane z portretem dokumentalnym, analizując w jaki sposób osobista wrażliwość estetyczna fotografa, kontekst społeczny czy wybór środków wyrazu wpływają na końcowy obraz. Projekt bada relację między prawdą a kreacją rzeczywistości w fotografii oraz podejmuje próbę przybliżenia podstawowych dylematów moralnych i filozoficznych fotografii dokumentalnej.
