Wizja zaświatów i obrzędy pogrzebowe w shintō, rodzimej religii Japonii

dc.abstract.en	The authoress analyzes the vision of the afterlife and changes in funeral rites in Shinto, Japan's native religion, over the centuries. She discusses two myths related to the vision of the afterlife - the myth of the Land of Darkness (Yomi no kuni), to which the goddess Izanagi had to go, and the “Hidden Land” of the god Ōkuninushi. She explains the concept of impurity (kegare), which also stems from death and contact with a dead body, which is why funeral participants must purify themselves with water or salt after the ceremony. She presents such funeral rituals as moistening the lips of the deceased (matsugo no mizu), washing the body of the deceased (yukan), “pillow decorations” (makura kazari), placing the deceased in a coffin (nōkan no gi), keeping vigil over the deceased (tsuyasai), collecting the cremated bones of the deceased (kotsuage), and the official funeral ceremony (shinsōsai).

Omawia dwa mity nawiązujące do wizji zaświatów - mit o Krainie Ciemności (Yomi no kuni), do której udała się bogini Izanagi, oraz o „Ukrytej Krainie” boga Ōkuninushiego. Wyjaśnia pojęcie skalania (kegare), którego źródłem jest także śmierć i kontakt z martwym ciałem, dlatego uczestnicy pogrzebu po jego zakończeniu muszą oczyścić się wodą lub solą. Przedstawia takie rytuały pogrzebowe jak zwilżanie ust zmarłego (matsugo no mizu), obmywanie ciała zmarłego (yukan), „dekoracje poduszkowe” (makura kazari), umieszczenie zmarłego w trumnie (nōkan no gi), czuwanie nad zmarłym (tsuyasai), zbieranie skremowanych kości zmarłego (kotsuage) i oficjalna ceremonia pogrzebowa (shinsōsai).
