Translation of Humor on the Example of the Polish Subtitles for the Series Cunk on Earth

dc.abstract.en	This paper presents the methods and strategies used in translating humor and cultural references based on the mockumentary series Cunk On Earth”. The first chapter presents a theoretical background concerning translation alongside the methods and techniques employed. The second chapter is focused on subtitling as a form of audiovisual translation and the related technical constraints and translation methods and strategies used and recommended. The third chapter discusses the theory behind the definition of humor, theory of discerning humour, and its translation. The fourth chapter describes the process of discerning and translating cultural references, as well as the methods and strategies used in translating cultural references in subtitling. Finally, the fifth chapter presents the methodology of the analysis, while the sixth chapter presents the results of the analysis of humour and cultural translation based on the first and second episodes of the mockumentary series Cunk On Earth” and examples of strategies used in translating humor and cultural references. The main results of the analysis are presented again in the conclusion.
dc.abstract.pl	Poniższa praca przedstawia jakie metody i strategie używane są w tłumaczeniu humoru oraz odniesień kulturowych na podstawie serialu “Świat Oczami Cunk” z rodzaju mockumentary. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia teoretyczne zagadnienia związane z tłumaczeniem oraz stosowanymi metodami i technikami. Drugi rozdział skupia się na zastosowaniu napisów jako jednej z form tłumaczeń audiowizualnych oraz związane z tym wymagania techniczne. Trzeci rozdział omawia teorię związaną z definicją humoru, rozpoznawaniem humoru oraz jego tłumaczeniem. W czwartym rozdziale podobnie opisywane jest rozpoznawanie i tłumaczenie odniesień kulturowych oraz metody i strategie stosowane w tłumaczeniu odniesień kulturowych z zastosowaniem napisów. Następnie, w rozdziale piątym przedstawiona została metodologia badań. Rozdział szósty pokazuje wyniki analizy tłumaczeń humoru i odniesień kulturowych na podstawie pierwszego i drugiego odcinka serialu mockumentary zatytułowanym “Świat Oczami Cunk” oraz przykłady użytych strategii w tłumaczeniu humoru i odniesień kulturowych. Na koniec główne wyniki analizy są ponownie przedstawione w podsumowaniu.
