Wiśniowy Sad pod Warszawą. Obraz Milanówka w prasie lat 1900-1914.

dc.abstract.enThe purpose of the work is to analyse the image of the summer resort of Milanówek as portrayed in the press, most of all - the Warsaw press, from 1900 until 1914. Due to the limited number of studies and a clear influence of later perceptions on the description of the past, a research gap concerns how the summer resort of Milanówek was perceived in its early days. The press, as a source which is resistant to later reinterpretations, is excellent material for such research. Several dozen newspaper contents were analysed, including general opinions, as well as more detailed mentions, such as the crime, nationality issues, railway accidents, or religious life, which enable to show the possible advantages and weaknesses of Milanówek, in the eyes of the public opinion, in the first years of 20th century. The analysis of the sources enables us to recreate the birth of Milanówek’s “elite summer resort” brand, as it was known. It also shows us the methods that achieved this marketing objective. A detailed analysis of the articles also enables to point out the phenomenon known as “longue durée” in microhistory, the ever-lasting problems and questions in the public debate, and to describe the reason for many contemporary issues of Milanówek’s urban space. Other than that, an extensive press query brings substantial microhistorical material to the contemporary reader and restores the memory about figures and phenomena, often forgotten or absent in other sources.
dc.abstract.plPraca ma na celu zbadanie obrazu letniska Milanówek przedstawionego w prasie, w szczególności warszawskiej, w latach 1900-1914. Wobec ograniczonej liczby opracowań i wyraźnego wpływu późniejszych wyobrażeń na opis przeszłości lukę badawczą stanowi zagadnienie tego jak postrzegano letnisko Milanówek u jego zarania. Prasa jako źródło zachowujące obraz chwili, w której powstała, stanowi doskonały materiał do takich badań. Analiza kilkudziesięciu tytułów prasowych pod kątem zarówno opinii ogólnych, jak i artykułów odnoszących się do szczegółowych zagadnień takich jak przestępczość, kwestie narodowościowe, wypadki kolejowe, czy życie religijne pozwala wykazać wszystkie wady i zalety Milanówka dostrzegane przez opinię społeczną w pierwszych latach XX wieku. Analiza źródeł pozwala również odtworzyć dzieje narodzin marki „elitarnego letniska”, jakim cieszył się on w następnych latach, a także wskazać na metody jakimi ten cel marketingowy został osiągnięty. Szczegółowa analiza materiału pozwala również na wskazanie zjawiska „długiego trwania” w historii lokalnej, niezmienności problemów i zagadnień debaty publicznej, a także opisać przyczyny wielu zjawisk obecnych w przestrzeni miejskiej dzisiaj. Prócz tego obszerna kwerenda w prasie przynosi również współczesnemu czytelnikowi obfity materiał mikrohistoryczny i przywraca pamięć o, często zupełnie zapomnianych i nieobecnych w innych źródłach, postaciach i wydarzeniach.
