Oszustwa w bankowości detalicznej – instytucje finansowe wobec działań oszustów
Oszustwa w bankowości detalicznej – instytucje finansowe wobec działań oszustów
| dc.abstract.en | This thesis addresses the highly relevant issue of cybercrime, focusing on the clash between fraudsters' activities and the defence systems of banks. The main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of retail banking fraud and to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies and countermeasures implemented by financial institutions in response to cybercriminal activities. The research focuses on identifying contemporary attack methods (including phishing, vishing, spoofing, investment scams, and the use of artificial intelligence, such as deepfake technology) and assessing the level of consumer resilience to these threats. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical chapters analyse the psychological and legal factors that facilitate criminal activities, as well as examine the evolution and mechanisms of the most common attack vectors. The empirical part is based on original research conducted using a diagnostic survey method through an online questionnaire, targeting a purposive sample of 100 active digital banking users. The collected data was presented using descriptive analysis and charts. The results of the study indicate that a false sense of security is widespread among customers. Despite a very high self-assessment of their own knowledge, users experience significant difficulties in the technical verification of the authenticity of fake messages. Furthermore, it was proven that the respondents' daily digital hygiene has substantial flaws, and the youngest generation of customers, despite their high technological proficiency, is largely defenceless against automated, next-generation attacks. The research also reveals that the current, passive information campaigns conducted by banks are highly ineffective and are frequently ignored completely by consumers. The final conclusions drawn from the research highlight the need for a fundamental change in protection strategies within the financial market. Financial institutions should further integrate verification based on behavioural biometrics and implement proactive operational blocks. These measures would effectively protect the customer at the critical moment when their own rational judgement breaks down under the influence of fraudsters' manipulation. |
Ponadto udowodniono, że codzienna higiena cyfrowa badanych posiada istotne luki, a najmłodsze pokolenie klientów, mimo wysokiej biegłości technologicznej, bywa w dużej mierze bezbronne wobec zautomatyzowanych ataków nowej generacji. |
