dc.abstract.en	The subject of this thesis is the issue of social victim blaming, with a primary focus on the impact of visual transgression and the role of the artist label. The main axis is a case study of the tragic story of Pippa Bacca, an Italian performance artist who fell victim to sexual assault and murder while carrying out an art project. The theoretical chapter is dedicated to Nils Christie’s concept of the ideal victim, Erving Goffman’s labeling theory, and Melvin Lerner’s just-world hypothesis. These considerations are situated within the context of the acceptability of risk-taking behaviors in relation to gender, the sociology of public space, and transgression. The main objectives of my research were to analyze: a) the extent to which assigning the status of an artist influences the public opinion's rationalization of the risk taken, b) the impact of non-normative clothing in a highway setting on the assessment of the victim's recklessness, and c) whether socio-demographic differences affect tendencies toward victimization. To achieve these objectives, I opted for a quantitative research method in the form of a factorial vignette experiment. The study was conducted on a sample of 243 participants using an online questionnaire.
dc.abstract.pl	Przedmiotem pracy jest problematyka społecznego obwiniania ofiar, z uwzględnieniem przede wszystkim wpływu transgresji wizualnej oraz roli “etykiety sztuki”. Główną osią jest studium przypadku tragicznej historii Pippy Bacca, włoskiej performerki, która w trakcie realizacji projektu artystycznego padła ofiarą napaści seksualnej i morderstwa. Rozdział teoretyczny poświęcony jest koncepcji “idealnej ofiary Nilsa Christie, teorii naznaczania Ervinga Goffmana oraz hipotezie sprawiedliwego świata Melvina Lernera. Rozważania zostały osadzone w kontekście akceptowalności ryzykownych zachowań względem płci, socjologii przestrzeni publicznej oraz transgresji. Główne cele przeprowadzonego przeze mnie badania to analiza a) w jakim stopniu, nadanie statusu artysty oddziałuje na racjonalizację (przez opinię publiczną) podjętego ryzyka, b) wpływu nienormatywnego ubioru w przestrzeni autostrady na ocenę “lekkomyślności” ofiary, c) czy różnice socjodemograficzne oddziałują na skłonności do wiktymizacji. Do osiągnięcia wymienionych celów zdecydowałam się na ilościową metodę badawczą, w postaci eksperymentu winietowego w układzie czynnikowym. Badanie przeprowadziłam na próbie 243 osób, za pomocą internetowego kwestionariusza.
