Evolución y manifestaciones del nacionalismo valenciano en la sociedad valenciana contemporánea: desafíos sociopolíticos y razones de su fragmentación

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie, jak kształtował się i jak wygląda obecnie nacjonalizm w regionie Wspólnoty Walenckiej w Królestwie Hiszpanii. W pracy zwraca się uwagę na najważniejsze czynniki historyczne, społeczne i kulturowe, które miały wpływ na rozwój tego zjawiska oraz jego specyfikę na tle innych ruchów o charakterze nacjonalistycznym lub regionalnym w Hiszpanii. W pierwszej części omówione są różne definicje nacjonalizmu, różnice między nacjonalizmem a patriotyzmem oraz rola konceptu wyobraźni zbiorowej w budowaniu tożsamości. Przedstawia się także pokrótce rozwój ruchów nacjonalistycznych w Europie i Hiszpanii, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem podziału na nacjonalizmy historyczne i „niehistoryczne”. Druga część poświęcona jest historii walencjanizmu, od czasów Korony Aragonii, przez Dekrety Nueva Planta i okres Renaixençy, aż po uzyskanie Statutu Autonomii przez Wspólnotę Walencką. Opisane jest także, jak zmieniała się idea tożsamości walenckiej i jakie trudności napotykała na drodze do rozwoju jako ruch polityczny. W trzeciej części przedstawiony został współczesny obraz nacjonalizmu walenckiego. Opisane są tam trwające spory o nazwę regionu, różnice między różnymi nurtami walencjanizmu, tj. między fusterianismo a blaverismo, znaczenie symboli oraz aktualny status języka walenckiego. Zwraca się także uwagę na rolę mediów i Internetu w podtrzymywaniu i kształtowaniu tożsamości lokalnej.

The aim of this paper is to present how Valencian nationalism has developed and what it looks like today in the region of the Valencian Community within the Kingdom of Spain. The paper focuses on the most important historical, social, and cultural factors that have influenced the development of this phenomenon and its specificity compared to other nationalist or regionalist movements in Spain. The first part discusses various definitions of nationalism, the differences between nationalism and patriotism, and the role of the concept of imagined community in building identity. It also briefly outlines the development of nationalist movements in Europe and Spain, with special attention to the division between ‘historical’ and ‘non-historical’ nationalisms. The second part is dedicated to the history of Valencianism, from the times of the Crown of Aragon, through the Nueva Planta Decrees and the period of the Renaixença, to the achievement of the Statute of Autonomy by the Valencian Community. It also describes how the idea of Valencian identity has evolved and what difficulties it has faced on its path towards becoming a political movement.The third part presents the contemporary picture of Valencian nationalism. It describes ongoing disputes over the name of the region, the differences between various strands of Valencianism, that is between fusterianisme and blaverisme, the significance of symbols, and the current status of the Valencian language. It also highlights the role of the media and the Internet in sustaining and shaping local identity.

El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar cómo ha evolucionado y cuál es la situación actual del nacionalismo en la región de la Comunidad Valenciana dentro del Reino de España. En el trabajo se presta atención a los factores históricos, sociales y culturales más importantes que han influido en el desarrollo de este fenómeno, así como a su especificidad en comparación con otros movimientos de carácter nacionalista o regional en España. En la primera parte se presenta diversas definiciones de nacionalismo, las diferencias entre nacionalismo y patriotismo, y el papel del concepto de imaginario colectivo en la construcción de la identidad. También se presenta brevemente el desarrollo de los movimientos nacionalistas en Europa y España, con especial atención a la división entre nacionalismos históricos y “no históricos”. La segunda parte está dedicada a la historia del valencianismo, desde los tiempos de la Corona de Aragón, pasando por los Decretos de Nueva Planta y el período de la Renaixença, hasta la obtención del Estatuto de Autonomía por la Comunidad Valenciana. Se describe asimismo cómo ha cambiado la idea de identidad valenciana y qué dificultades ha encontrado en su camino hacia su consolidación como movimiento político. En la tercera parte se presenta la imagen contemporánea del nacionalismo valenciano. Se describen los conflictos actuales sobre la denominación de la región, las diferencias entre las distintas corrientes del valencianismo, es decir, entre el fusterianismo y el blaverismo, la importancia de los símbolos y la situación actual de la lengua valenciana. También se pone de relieve el papel de los medios de comunicación e Internet en el mantenimiento y la construcción de la identidad local.
