Biblia Wujka, Rabba i Grodzickiego. Historia jezuickiego przekładu (ok. 1579-1599) w kontekście kulturowym epoki

dc.abstract.enThe subject of the dissertation is the process of creation of the so-called Wujek’s Bible, and its circumstances. The dissertations’s objectives are: to reconstruct the history of the development and censorship of the Jesuit translation on the basis of documents of the period; to describe how the translation changed as a result of the involvement of Justus Rabb and Stanisław Grodzicki; to reconstruct the strategies adopted at the translation’s successive stages; and to explain these concepts in the cultural and confessional context of the 16th century. The vernacular Catholic Bible had to fulfil a number of requirements grounded in the post Tridentine magisterium of the Catholic Church. The disputes over the translation and the history of its transformation testify to the intellectual and cultural formation of the translation’s authors, as well as to the different concepts of biblical philology and vernacularization of the Scripture taking shape within Polish Catholicism, and embedded in the European debates of the time. The changes occurring in the successive editions of the Wujek’s Bible, the different modes of interpretation of the guidelines in force, and their pragmatic application are a probe of dynamic cultural changes taking place at the time. The description of the creative process and its circumstances leads to a description of the processes shaping the culture of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth.
dc.abstract.plPrzedmiotem rozprawy jest proces powstawania tzw. Biblii Wujka oraz jego uwarunkowania. Celami pracy są: rekonstrukcja historii powstawania i cenzurowania jezuickiego przekładu na podstawie dokumentów z epoki oraz opisanie, w jaki sposób zmieniał się on w wyniku zaangażowania w prace Justa Rabba oraz Stanisława Grodzickiego, rekonstrukcja strategii translatorskich przyjmowanych na kolejnych etapach, a także wyjaśnienie tych koncepcji w kontekście kulturowo-konfesyjnym XVI w. Wernakularna, katolicka Biblia musiała realizować szereg wymagań ugruntowanych w potrydenckim magisterium Kościoła katolickiego. Spory o tłumaczenie i historia jego przekształcania świadczą o odmiennej formacji intelektualnej i kulturowej autorów przekładu orazo odmiennych koncepcjach filologii biblijnej i wernakularyzacji Pisma kształtujących sięw łonie polskiego katolicyzmu, a wpisanych w ówczesne debaty europejskie. Zmiany zachodzące w kolejnych wydaniach, różne tryby interpretacji obowiązujących wytycznychi ich pragmatycznej aplikacji stanowią probierz dynamicznych zmian kulturowych. Rekonstrukcja procesu twórczego i jego determinant prowadzi do opisu procesów kształtujących kulturę Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów.
